HILO

HILO, meaning thread in Spanish, is a deeply personal collection by Nueva Vida that celebrates family, culture, identity, and the immigrant experience.

Inspired by my upbringing as a first-generation Mexican American, HILO tells the stories of the people, places, and traditions that shaped who I am today. Through upcycled materials, reconstructed garments, and nostalgic silhouettes, each piece represents a connection between our past and our future.

The runway brought my grandmother’s home in Mexico to life, creating a space filled with love, memories, and belonging. It was a tribute to my family, especially my mother, who has been unable to return to her hometown for over 20 years.

More than a fashion collection, HILO is a celebration of our roots, the sacrifices made before us, and the stories we carry forward.
